Start-up of the forklift business
Korea’s initial domestic forklift market was an open-import enterprise. In the 1960’s, Korea Machinery Co. Ltd. started to import assembled lift trucks as part of a nationwide machinery expansion project. Early sales of this industrialized equipment focused on large business communities, the armed forces and on state-run corporations. This eventually led to a merger with Daewoo Heavy Industries Ltd. In 1976, the Forklift Division commenced business operations throughout Korea to service and sell this heavy equipment. By 1978, a forklift production plant was successfully completed. Continuous technical education became the new focus for improving quality and product development.
Propane lift truck efficiency is relatively impressive in view of the fact that the cylinders containing propane can simply be replaced and the equipment can get back to work without losing much "downtime". It is not like the electric forklift where spare batteries must be purchased to be used while the original battery can take up to 8 hours of cooling time plus 8 hours of charging time depending on the unit.
Safety
As the fuel system of the propane forklift is sealed; it is far safer to work than other models of lift truck. The fuel cylinders are sealed to ensure optimum safety and need to adhere to strict national code specialization. Propane gas also works with less energy than CNG gas, thus, if any mishap occurs, there is a system where the fuel is shut off. This significantly minimizes the possible danger and destruction that could happen. Refilling options are even beneficial for the operator. If they will rather refuel elsewhere, the cylinders could be transported to a refilling centre. If the company chooses, the refilling could be completed on site instead.
